Program Description

The 9th Annual State Bar of Michigan Business Law Symposium, “The Anatomy of the Business Divorce,” will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2027, at The Gem Theatre in Downtown Detroit, from 4:30 – 8:45 PM.

Doors open at 4:00pm
The program will feature a 30 minute networking session from 4:00-4:30 PM.

This year’s Symposium will once again be held at the beautiful Gem Theatre, in downtown Detroit, where the Symposium has been in residency for the last three years. As the name implies, the focus of this year’s program is on the separation of business interests in the litigation context. Accordingly, the discussion will focus on various aspects of the “business divorce” and the litigation and trial thereof, including corporate and member oppression theory and practice; negotiation method and strategy; judicial perspective; juxtapositions between business and familial divorce; and other varied perspectives and insights from some of the best practitioners, judges and academics in the field.
